    Major Duties: Examines, vaccinates, treats and performs authorized surgery on animals owned by individuals authorized medical treatment in DOD facilities. Performs emergency surgical procedures, interprets laboratory, radiological and diagnostic procedures such as routine necropsies on animals as necessary. Explains medical findings and prescribes treatments. Provides professional input to the Rabies Control Program and advice to health care providers concerning the risk of human rabies in potentially exposed patients. Maintains proper and legible animal health records, controlled drug records, and prepares required reports. Conducts physical examinations prior to issuance of health certificates and release of rabies suspects from quarantine. Provides normal and emergency treatment and surgery of military working dogs (MWD) and horses as needed. Will be required to be on call for surgical cases and MWD emergencies. Will be responsible for quarterly clinical proficiencies. Qualifications: Knowledge of veterinary medical principles and concepts required through completion of a full course of study for the Doctor of Veterinary medicine degree from an accredited school of Veterinary medicine. Must maintain a current veterinary license for the State of Texas. Must have the ability to apply veterinary knowledge to accurately diagnose, treat and perform surgery on animals; conduct animal disease control and eradication program; communicate medical and administrative findings both orally and in writing. Managerial skills required for supervisory duties. Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, do considerable walking and lift up to 40 pounds.     The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, at Oklahoma State University, has an opening for a resident in Veterinary Clinical Pathology.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in diagnostic clinical pathology.  Our program has 3 board certified clinical pathologists and 2 clinical pathology residents.  The successful candidate will receive training in all fields of Clinical Pathology including hematology, cytology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, and histopathology.  Residents participate in clinical service, regularly scheduled rounds, small group teaching of DVM students and departmental seminars in conjunction with anatomic pathologists and residents.  In addition, residents spend 2-3 months per year training at a commercial diagnostic laboratory where they can gain access to a tremendous amount and variety of case material.     • Prepare the treatment room for examination of Pets and all necessary medical item and supplies (e.g. vaccinations, fecal loops, slides, etc.) for the veterinarian. Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings.
    • Perform routine in-house laboratory tests (e.g. canine heart worm, feline leukemia, FIV, and canine parvovirus).
    • Hold or restrain Pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
    • Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients. Ensure the comfort of hospitalized patients by ‘walking’, exercising, feeding, and cleaning cages and Pet (when approved by the veterinarian).
    • Ensure cleanliness of the hospital including but not limited to housekeeping such as laundry, dishes, mopping, cage cleaning, trash collection and removal and instrument cleaning
    • Bathe and dip Pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions.
    • Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
    Qualifications:
