    Required qualifications are a DVM, VMD, or equivalent foreign degree and completion of a 1-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery. A 3-year AVDC approved training program in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery is available. This program is designed to provide in depth training in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery and its supporting disciplines. Although the majority of dentistry and oral surgery cases involve dogs and cats, it is expected that the resident will become familiar with and provide dental services in all species including equine dentistry, and other large domestic animals.. The resident will spend approximately 80% of the time in clinical duties and teaching veterinary medical students in the dental service, and approximately 20% of the time participating in rounds, seminars, publications, presentations, research, didactic teaching, preparation for AVDC board eligibility, and other forms of training which may include time spent at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Rotations in anesthesia, radiology, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery will be included in the program.
