Provide technical research support for the Clinical Research Laboratory. Act as study coordinator for all phases of study. Assist Principle Investigator in project development. Provide care of animals in all phases of research project including surgical and post-surgical biological, radioactive and laser therapies. Assist faculty with surgery and necropsies. Provide anesthesia/treatments on various species of animals. Collect data including biological specimens, measure mechanical and biological events or conditions, and maintain detailed study records and data sheets. Ensure adherence to project protocols for the Purdue Animal Care and Use Committee (PACUC), DEA and USDA. Write budgets and assist with preparation of PACUC applications and amendments as requested. Assist with maintaining CRL surgical and support areas, maintaining DEA files, maintaining supply inventory and data archiving. Assist and back up manager as assigned. Train employees in wide array of procedures. Supervise/train support staff and students for proper execution of project protocols. Qualifications Required: * Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field * Two years experience working with small and large animals * Ability to obtain AALAS certification within 18 months * Good verbal and written communication skills * Experience with computer software (MS Word and Excel) * Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally. - Travel will be required on a regular basis for one on one customer interactions to support the sales force, for technical presentations to the customer base and/or for technical support at national, state or local veterinary meetings. IDEXX Laboratories is currently conducting a search for an experienced anatomic pathologist to join the newest reference laboratory, which opened in Memphis, Tennessee in November 2008. The pathologist is expected to meet caseload and turnaround expectations and to be accessible for client consultations during regular working hours. The position is full-time salaried with a 5-day workweek. Duties and Responsibilities: Partnering with the Regional Head of Anatomic Pathology and the laboratory manager to ensure the quality of results in the laboratory, and working in conjunction with other anatomic and clinical pathologists to allow optimum turn around time of client submissions; Consulting with clients regarding interpretation of pathology reports and other laboratory data, and responding to client inquiries; Providing clients with diagnostic evaluation and consultation in the area of anatomic pathology, including both microscopic and gross evaluation of surgical biopsy specimens. When fully staffed the Memphis lab will employ over 50 people working in the areas of hematology, histology, microbiology, chemistry, serology, parasitology, immunology and pathology. The pathologist is also expected to promote the growth of IDEXX Laboratories by actively participating in pathologist meetings and professional contact with clients.
