The Veterinary Services hospital interns function in two roles, one is as the primary wildlife case contact, the other is as assistant to the veterinary technicians. This internship is designed to give students experience in a veterinary hospital setting where they will have the opportunity to provide patient care, keep accurate records and develop relationships with our staff of keepers, technicians and veterinarians. The wildlife intern is responsible for receiving all wildlife cases that come to the veterinary hospital from Walt Disney World property. This includes assessment, triage, giving necessary care as directed by the animal care staff and veterinarians, animal transport to rehabilitation facilities, maintenance of all records and data bases. This includes setting up supplies/equipment prior to procedures, maintenance of stock/supplies in the veterinary hospital and at satellite facilities, clean up after procedures, cleaning/packing/sterilizing instruments, assistance with sample preparation and related laboratory paperwork. The Territory Manager position generates revenue by building sales and endorsements of FDAH’s products in veterinarian clinics and distributors throughout the territory. Endorsement will be gained through market leadership and market share.
This position is the primary contact to the accounts within their assigned territory. This position sells FDAH products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to positively influence customers and assist them in applying the products/services to their needs. This position works under only general direction and reports to the Regional Manager, but may take direction from a National Sales Manager, National Account Training Manager, and Product Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Focus sales activities and efforts on achieving Sales Effectiveness Call Goals and Territory Sales objectives within assigned territory in accordance to policy guidelines, limits, and company procedures.
2. Responsible for managing an existing territory account base. Manage assigned sales budgets in an appropriate, timely, and in an effective manner. Prepare and maintain required or requested territory records, reports and other documentation, such as weekly performance and expense accounts. Properly operate and maintain company property.
3. Promote and merchandise FDAH’s products in assigned clinic, dealers and distributor locations. Aggressively replace competitive products through education, promotions, and team coordination activities.
4. Uphold, promote, and exhibit Company Values when conducting business activities. Promote a positive company image through professional appearance, behaviors, and show respect for customers, consumers and the communities in which we do business.
5. Make sales contacts, research customer needs, develop and deliver sales presentations (using Planned Emphasis Programs) and close sales in a professional manner utilizing PAR skills.
6. Maintain up-to date Working knowledge of both FDAH products and competitor products.
7. Build rapport with selected accounts to drive endorsement and sales of FDAH’s products; successfully handle complaints, and maintain customers in good credit standing.
8. Conduct in-clinic and producer seminars as directed on focus products either independently or in conjunction with region team members. Attend conventions, recruitment activities, and other business functions as directed.
9. Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets; and notifies management of conditions.
10. Maintain working knowledge of professional ”marketplace” — (veterinary practices, veterinary schools, Animal Health Technician schools, research institutions and government institutions within territory.
Basic Qualifications:
Education Requirement: B.S./B.A. Degree or equivalent work experience. Degree in animal science, biology, or related science field is preferred.
Years of Experience Required: a minimum of 1 – 2 years successful sales background or experience. Related industry or equine experience preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
1. Willing and able to ride and operate a company vehicle for at least 40% of the time.
2. Valid driver’s license and driving record that passes FDAH standards.
3. Willing and able to travel overnight when business necessitates.
4. Willing and able to work flexible and weekend hours when business necessitates.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated veterinary specialist to join the small animal surgery team at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney (UVTHS). This is a unique opportunity to take on an important leadership role in an outstanding, AVMA-accredited veterinary teaching hospital, in one of the world’s most desirable cities. The successful applicant must have a veterinary degree and a postgraduate qualification that allows for registration as a Specialist in small animal surgery in NSW.
The UVTHS has benefited recently from major financial support. The Valentine Charlton Cat Centre, which opened in 2004, has gained international recognition as a state-of-the-art feline referral facility, generating large clinical research output and offering residency training programs in feline medicine. The $2.8 million Canine Centre opened in early 2008 and presents as one of the most sophisticated teaching hospitals in the country. New equipment acquisitions include MRI, CT, computed radiography and videoendoscopy. The hospital is supported by an extensive range of specialist staff in orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic imaging, medicine, neurology, dermatology and ophthalmology.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Professor Kenneth Johnson and a team of highly qualified surgical and support staff. The appointee would be expected to play a leading role in expanding the UVTHS small animal surgery referral service, to actively participate in the Faculty’s clinical research programs and to provide excellent teaching to undergraduates and postgraduate veterinarians. The appointee must have the flexibility to work independently and as part of a team while demonstrating outstanding clinical and communication skills to deliver quality teaching, research and clinical practice. A proven record of financial responsibility is essential.
The Faculty has an excellent reputation in learning and teaching. To maintain this, the appointee will be required to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education). Participation in the development and implementation of the UVTHS and Surgery Unit Strategic Plans will be expected. Experience in mentoring and managing staff is desirable. For appointment as Senior Lecturer the following additional requirements must be met: a postgraduate research based degree; evidence of research publications relevant to small animal surgery; experience in managing and mentoring staff; and demonstrated administrative skills.
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
Remuneration package: a competitive salary package (which includes a base salary, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation), plus a Discretionary Salary Supplement will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Level of appointment and responsibility will be commensurate with skills and experience. Some relocation cost support will be provided and visa sponsorship will be available for the successful appointee if required.
