The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, at Oklahoma State University, has an opening for a resident in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in diagnostic clinical pathology. Our program has 3 board certified clinical pathologists and 2 clinical pathology residents. The successful candidate will receive training in all fields of Clinical Pathology including hematology, cytology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, and histopathology. Residents participate in clinical service, regularly scheduled rounds, small group teaching of DVM students and departmental seminars in conjunction with anatomic pathologists and residents. In addition, residents spend 2-3 months per year training at a commercial diagnostic laboratory where they can gain access to a tremendous amount and variety of case material.

The Veterinary Pathologist will evaluate, interpret and report anatomic pathology data derived from preclinical safety studies under the requirements of GLP. This position will work closely with Study Directors and other Scientists within SNBL USA and our clients.

* Oversee and perform histopathology, gross pathology (necropsy), and electron microscopy examinations; produce and review reports
* Coordinate the department’s efforts and resources to optimize performance
* Attend department and company meetings
* Prepare, review, and revise Standard Operating Procedures and protocols
* Engage in research to develop techniques for diagnosing and identifying pathological conditions
* Train senior and junior level staff in gross pathology and histology
* Devise and direct use of special stains and methods
* Communications with clients and vendors
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree from a foreign university by the start date and possess excellent communication skills. Candidate selection will be based on strength of academic record, level and quality of experience, recommendations, and commitment to a career in veterinary pathology. Preference will be given to candidates with clinical, research, and/or pathology-related experience. Individuals who have graduated from a non-English speaking veterinary program must provide a GRE or TOEFL score.
