    This position will be part of a team of professionals providing veterinary care to all laboratory animals maintained by the department as well as veterinary technology collaborative study support to facilitate drug discovery development efforts. REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS: Veterinary Technician Bachelor of Science in Biology or related scientific discipline with a minimum of two years experience in veterinary technology OR Associate Degree with a minimum of 4 years experience in veterinary technology, coupled with AALAS certification at the (minimum) LAT level. Must also have a proven track record of successfully working in a team-oriented environment. Experience in pharmaceutical research environment with nonhuman primates, canines, and rodents is preferred.     • Prep patient for surgical procedure
    • Monitor heart rate, respiration & temp of patient during and after anesthetic procedure
    3. Maintain necessary records as follows:
    • Record animal medical/clinical data as outlined in experimental procedure or NT protocol
    • Maintain animal records in orderly manner
    • File laboratory results
    • Maintain anesthetic logbook
    • Enter pertinent medical information into puppy adoption file in a timely manner
    • Maintain updated treatment list
    4. Maintenance of veterinary suite and associated areas:
    • Maintain safe, sanitary & orderly work area
    • Clean & sanitize work area daily (vet suite) or as used (DEXA, radiology.)
    • Clean-up of surgical suite & instruments post-op
    5. Practice safety in the work area SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED: ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assist veterinarian & other technicians with blood & urine collections
    • Assist veterinarian & other technicians with vaccination program and administration
    • Actively participate in training and skill development as needed
