The facility opened last January and is growing rapidly. They serve a very loyal and educated, middle class region of north western Rhode Island and south eastern Mass. The clinic is owned and managed by a veterinarian with 16 years of experience, 7 of which involved management and training of new graduates, and who is in the process of earning certification with the ABVP. The support staff is highly trained, fun to work with, and highly motivated to provide the patients with the most compassionate care, their caretakers with personable and professional education, and the associates with the respect and assistance they earn. The clinic emphasizes urgent care and provides full service hospitalization, performs a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries on-site and has access to a surgical specialist for on-site orthopedic procedures. We have digital radiology, idexx in house lab equipment, ecg, blood pressure monitor and tonopen that we use regularly. Salary is based on experience and bonuses are earned based on total hospital profits, not gross production, so new associates are not penalized for not having a clientele to beef up their production. Benefits include stipends for continuing education, health and dental insurance, retirement plans, and the usual licence fees and professional dues. Relocation fees are negotiable and can be discussed during an inital phone or email “interview.” Requirements: The ideal associate has experience, but new graduates are welcome to apply. Current hours are Mon, Tues 10 -10, Wed 8-8 and Sat Sun 8-4. As we add associates, we hope to add hours and services, so if you have a particular area of expertise or a desire to develop one, you will get support. An interest in surgery is definitely preferred, as we do perform a wide variety of soft tissue elective and emergency procedures. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, calendar-year, clinical instructor position reporting dually to the College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as to the University Veterinarian. The successful candidate also will be required to teach in an annual, semester-long course “laboratory Animal Management”. The position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual interested in the care of rodents, rabbits, small animals and large (agricultural) animals in a research-intensive setting. The Clinical Laboratory Veterinarian will be responsible for providing veterinary support for a comprehensive animal care program and overseeing the health and well-being of College owned research and teaching animals.
