The residency program is designed to provide training in ophthalmic medicine and surgery leading to ACVO board eligibility. The resident will work closely with ophthalmology faculty with the primary responsibility to provide patient care for ophthalmology patients and support the ophthalmology service. A veterinary technician also supports the service. The resident will also provide instruction to the professional students in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as it relates to their job responsibilities.
The resident will have primary case responsibility and will participate in didactic training, in daily topic and ward rounds and journal club with residents and the staff. The resident will be required to present and attend seminars and continuing education lectures, and to provide lectures. The applicant must have training or experience that demonstrates technical skills required for the care and treatment of animals.

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is seeking applicants for a tenure-track or clinical-track position in veterinary ophthalmology.
Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A DVM degree or equivalent and completion of clinical residency training in veterinary ophthalmology are required. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) is preferred. However, those qualified to take the ACVO certification examination are encouraged to apply. Required qualifications are a DVM, VMD, or equivalent foreign degree and completion of a 1-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery.
A 3-year AVDC approved training program in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery is available. This program is designed to provide in depth training in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery and its supporting disciplines. Although the majority of dentistry and oral surgery cases involve dogs and cats, it is expected that the resident will become familiar with and provide dental services in all species including equine dentistry, and other large domestic animals.. The resident will spend approximately 80% of the time in clinical duties and teaching veterinary medical students in the dental service, and approximately 20% of the time participating in rounds, seminars, publications, presentations, research, didactic teaching, preparation for AVDC board eligibility, and other forms of training which may include time spent at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Rotations in anesthesia, radiology, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery will be included in the program. This program is not participating in the VIRMP (Veterinary Intern and Residency Matching Program).
