The incumbent is responsible by assignment for the: * Development, design , construction, validation, or initial operation of chemical, vaccine, pharmaceutical, packaging and safety/environmental processes and facilities using new or existing technologies for new and in-line human, vaccine, and veterinary products. * Analysis of processing problems through analytical thinking and the execution of laboratory/pilot scale experiments. * Development of sound scientific justification for planned material and process and equipment changes. * Technology transfer of products and processes to Merck manufacturing plants worldwide. * Begin to develop working relationship with MRL on technology transfer issues and significant manufacturing issues. * Development of working relationship with MMD manufacturing sites and with architectural and engineering firms, construction management firms, outside equipment vendors, and state and federal agencies (FDA, EPA, etc.) with whom Merck interfaces. * Analysis of current safety/environmental and drug and/or biological product regulatory requirements and determination of the impact on Merck operations. * Assistance in the development of corporate engineering, quality and/or environmental policies/standards and in the assessment of compliance status for both Merck and non- Merck facilities. * Assists in documentation preparation, maintenance, and review including SOP’s, process descriptions, atypical process reports, and change requests. * Participates in the Profit Improvement Program by executing experiments and implementing project plans. * Under the direction of the Manager, may perform experimental work using laboratory and/or process scale equipment. The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, at Oklahoma State University, has an opening for a resident in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in diagnostic clinical pathology. Our program has 3 board certified clinical pathologists and 2 clinical pathology residents. The successful candidate will receive training in all fields of Clinical Pathology including hematology, cytology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, and histopathology. Residents participate in clinical service, regularly scheduled rounds, small group teaching of DVM students and departmental seminars in conjunction with anatomic pathologists and residents. In addition, residents spend 2-3 months per year training at a commercial diagnostic laboratory where they can gain access to a tremendous amount and variety of case material. This is a 3-year program designed to prepare candidates for a career in diagnostic Veterinary Clinical Pathology and obtain board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. The starting salary for this position is $27,228 per year with benefits including health insurance. The starting date is July 1, 2009. Our practice is truly a mixed practice serving equine, dairy, small ruminant and beef clients in addition to a busy small animal practice serving a varied clientele. Equine experience is a plus for this position but not crucial as our goal is for each doctor to feel comfortable helping any of our patients but have the time and resources to excel in whichever area of practice most interests them. We are located in a rural crossroads community just minutes away from Chapel Hill and convenient to Raleigh and Greensboro as well. The local economy is doing quite well and our practice is growing. We work in a recently remodeled hospital with roomy and well equipped small animal facilities and haul in for large animal.
