The Manager of Veterinary Services provides veterinary technician training, and leadership for the preclinical Veterinary Services Section; Works with management and all preclinical staff to ensure the implementation of laboratory research in a manner that meets and/or exceeds current standards of care; Acts as the primary preclinical department liaison with senior management and regulatory agencies on AWA and IACUC compliance issues; Develops and maintains quality oversight practices designed to ensure the highest level of attention to animal welfare, including the establishment of investigator and AALAS training programs. A minimum of a DVM/VMD from an AVMA accredited institution is required. A minimum of five years of veterinary clinical experience and experience in providing primary laboratory in vivo coaching/mentoring veterinary technical staff is required. The experience of working effectively in a team driven environment and excellent interpersonal skills are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience in compliance issue resolution. A working knowledge of all relevant regulations, interpretive literature and current USDA inspectional trends is preferred. Post-graduate training and/or experience with in vivo research and medicine is a plus. One to two years of management experience in a Research & Development or Contract Laboratory Organization and experience in the conduct of in-vivo Preclinical studies is preferred.
