The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is seeking a Veterinary Technician to work with dedicated support staff, high volume surgery schedule, in a fast paced environment. This is a full-time, 40 hr/week, non-exempt, hourly position with pay rate starting at $13.00/hr or DOE.

Assist veterinarians with all aspects of the treatment and care of animal patients. Educates clients on proper animal care, and promotes and supports the services offered by the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, the Shelter, and our Veterinary Clinic. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Calculating, administering, and recording pre-anesthetic drugs
· Performing all pre-surgical duties as directed by the veterinarian
· Monitoring anesthesia during surgery
· Monitoring animals through post-anesthesia and recovery
· Responsible for shelter animal clinical assessment and treatment
· Assisting Veterinarian with daily shelter veterinary rounds
· Following animals through Foster; ensuring exams and treatments are scheduled and completed
· Responding to emergency situations, administering triage care
· Performing dental cleanings
· Preparing laboratory samples and evaluating in-house lab work
· Preparing and operating radiology equipment
· Administering and recording medications and treatments
· Cleaning and preparing surgical instruments
· Assisting veterinarians with office calls
· Maintaining a healthy and safe environment for animals and people
Qualifications:
Current Colorado State Certification as Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience required. Previous work experience in the animal welfare field preferred. Effective communication and organization skills. Strong customer service skills. No allergies to animals, able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. Shows initiative and is a conscientious worker. Ability to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment.
