- Clinical Instructor of Veterinary Surgery
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine has an opening for a clinical instructor in Small Animal Surgery. This will be a one year appointment with 38 weeks of assigned clinic duty. The primary job responsibility will be to lead a surgical service (orthopedics or soft tissue).
Responsibilities will include primary patient care and clinical training of students, interns, and residents assigned to the surgical service. Other teaching assignments may include junior operative practice laboratories and limited didactic teaching of core, track and/or elective student courses. Participation is expected in general Small Animal Surgery service activities, such as meetings, resident seminars, journal club and rounds. The applicant must be committed to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching.
American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) diplomate status would be preferred. However, candidates eligible for certification examination in the ACVS or ECVS will be considered. Apply

We are looking for a Research Leader for pathology section and is responsible for all aspects of pathology from early discovery support through clinical development.? The successful candidate will have the opportunity to evaluate and interpret outcomes from both discovery and regulatory toxicology studies.? The pathologists participate fully on Project teams and subteams, and have frequent inter organizational and outside collaborative contacts.
Regulatory work includes the planning, conduct, reporting and review of toxicology studies, including peer-reviews.
Additional responsibilities include:
Support drug discovery and development by providing pathology support in the design and conduct of toxicology experiments which focus on characterizing the safety of novel therapeutic targets and discovering and developing new chemical entities intended to modulate those targets.
Review study protocols and make recommendations regarding the design of the clinical pathology and anatomic pathology portions of toxicology studies.
Conduct gross and microscopic examinations of animal tissues from toxicology and investigative studies and interpret and explore the significance of results of clinical pathology, organ weight, necropsy, and histopathology data.
Create or contribute to pathology reports that accurately and completely reflect the data collected and the significance of the data to drug registration and human safety.
Provide investigative pathology leadership for drug discovery teams.
Qualification: This position requires a DVM preferably with PhD in Pathology or a related field and Board-certified/?eligible by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.? Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines and 3-5 years experience working in pharmaceutical industry.? Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to foster productive dialog on complex topics is required as well as the ability to contribute effectively to sound decision making in a manner that is timely and consensus based.? KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- Travel will be required on a regular basis for one on one customer interactions to support the sales force, for technical presentations to the customer base and/or for technical support at national, state or local veterinary meetings. Travel commitment will average 75%, but may be higher at times due to new product introductions, etc.
- Phone technical support will entail a minor component of the position and case work relative to the customer support aspects of adverse events will be limited.
- Field veterinary staff will be integral in the technical support roll out of new products and their ongoing support. Field staff will also assist with product technical training, as deemed appropriate by the Companion Animal Training Manager.
- Each Veterinary Technical Consultant will have responsibilities associated with execution of the Academic Liaison Program with responsibilities at one or more School or College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Field veterinary staff will work closely with field sales organization to provide training and development of technical competence.
- Support the efforts of Sales and Marketing, as required, through travel with representatives and participation in launch teams, customer meetings and veterinary meetings, as assigned.
- Provide technical support for all products via telephone, direct customer interaction and through presentations to professional and pet owner audiences
- Assist with and support all pertinent training programs for new technical consultant veterinarians, veterinary technicians and customer support personnel within the company, as well as for the sales force and the contract call center
- Assist, as assigned, with the coordination and execution of the Post Approval Studies to address critical data needs
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of the Academic Liaison Program at assigned veterinary colleges or schools
- Assist in identification of key specialty veterinarians and develop technical working relationships with them
