  • Clinical Laboratory Veterinary, Virginia Tech
    The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology and the Office of Research and Graduate Studies of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the University Veterinarian, are seeking a veterinarian with interest in laboratory animal medicine to provide and supervise medical care to animals used in the teaching and research programs. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, calendar-year, clinical instructor position reporting dually to the College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as to the University Veterinarian. The successful candidate also will be required to teach in an annual, semester-long course “laboratory Animal Management”. The position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual interested in the care of rodents, rabbits, small animals and large (agricultural) animals in a research-intensive setting. The Clinical Laboratory Veterinarian will be responsible for providing veterinary support for a comprehensive animal care program and overseeing the health and well-being of College owned research and teaching animals. Responsibilities also include assisting Faculty and investigate staff with development of animal models and research use protocol forms; assisting the unit in achieving and maintaining AALAC accreditation; assisting in the training programs for investigators, research staff, and animal care staff; providing technical guidance to researchers and animal care units; providing surgical and post-operative care; and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
