The Staff Accountant is responsible for insuring the accurate and timely recording and payment of vendor billings for a group of veterinary specialty practices. The position will also have certain general accounting responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
* Code approved invoices and input into accounting program in a timely and accurate manner
* Process check payments, matching to invoice, mailing originals and filing copies for multiple profit centers
* Process void checks and debit memos accurately
* Monitor recurring payments to ensure payments are made on time
* Maintain and researching items on the aged payables report
* Communicate with management, vendors and other departments to identify and resolve issues.
* Cash Management
* Calculate monthly Sales Tax reports for facilities
* Provide assistance with special projects as they occur
* Post inter-company general ledger transactions
* Bank reconciliations
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
* Preferred: Minimum of Associates degree
* Preferred: Minimum of two to five years work related experience
* Preferred: Expert Level Microsoft Excel Knowledge
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
* Knowledge of general accounting principles
* Excellent organizational skills and problem solving ability
* Ability to work and think independently
* Ability to professionally handle confidential information
* Familiarity with various accounting software including QuickBooks and MAS500
* 10-key with proficiency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Meets with distributor regional and/or district sales management in assigned region on a quarterly basis to review sales performance and generate plans for sales growth.
· Works with distributors in assigned region to train the outside sales force on product information and selling skills to gain product placement and pull through at veterinary clinic level.
· Conduct product training and selling skills at distributor inside telesales centers in assigned region on a quarterly basis. This will include training of existing products, new products and of execution of sales programs in place.
· Conduct distributor ride-withs in assigned region with top 15 sales volume representatives on a quarterly basis.
· Supports all distributor sales representatives in assigned region through methods other than ride-withs, such as but not limited to: voice-mails, e-mails, scheduled group lunch or dinner meetings, etc.
· Identifies, in cooperation with distributor sales representatives, key accounts in which to gain product placement. These accounts may include large veterinary clinics, veterinary schools, research facilities or any other facility in which a veterinarian is on staff.
· Obtains invitation or commitment for participation at all distributor sales meetings in assigned region. Attends and conducts training at all distributor sales meetings.
· Conduct product-training seminars for veterinarians, hospital staff at territorial veterinary association meetings and in hospital meetings.
· Participate in national and regional trade shows.
· Responsible for the drafting and presentation of the following plans and reports:
· Annual regional sales plan to include planning calendar for distributors in assigned region
· Weekly activity reports
· Weekly expense reports
· Controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.

Required qualifications are a DVM, VMD, or equivalent foreign degree and completion of a 1-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery.
A 3-year AVDC approved training program in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery is available. This program is designed to provide in depth training in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery and its supporting disciplines. Although the majority of dentistry and oral surgery cases involve dogs and cats, it is expected that the resident will become familiar with and provide dental services in all species including equine dentistry, and other large domestic animals.. The resident will spend approximately 80% of the time in clinical duties and teaching veterinary medical students in the dental service, and approximately 20% of the time participating in rounds, seminars, publications, presentations, research, didactic teaching, preparation for AVDC board eligibility, and other forms of training which may include time spent at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Rotations in anesthesia, radiology, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery will be included in the program. This program is not participating in the VIRMP (Veterinary Intern and Residency Matching Program).
