Applicants must be graduates or currently enrolled students in an accredited registered veterinary technology program. Applicants must receive a negative TB test, have a current rabies vaccine, be able to work in extreme weather conditions, and be able to repeatedly lift at least 50 lbs.
Gain first-hand experience under the supervision and apprenticeship of veterinary staff in all aspects of veterinary technology in zoological medicine and surgery, including immobilization procedures, anesthesia, radiography, preventative health, phlebotomy & more.
The internship is UNPAID & does not provide transportation assistance. Housing assistance may be available.

Animal Clinic at New Lenox in New Lenox is looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing Hospital Manager to lead our team. We are a busy 3-doctor, full-service animal hospital. The Hospital Manager at Animal Clinic at New Lenox is charged with managing the business activities of the animal hospital in conjunction with both Dr. Dave Teykl, Chief of Staff, and the Regional Manager, Jim Agan.
Personnel:
· Plans for optimal staffing to assure maximum productivity and service
· Supervises support staff personnel and ensures that staff is properly trained

Patient/Client

Administration
· Ensures that the hospital operates within budget and achieves growth projections
· Oversees the building and equipment maintenance and housekeeping standards
· Periodically reviews fee schedules for services and products – work with Regional Manager to discuss changes as necessary
· Assists Doctors with production goals – periodically reviewing charges to ensure that all charges are being captured
· Responsible for the daily receipts – reconciling, bank deposits, etc.
· Other duties as assigned by Regional Manager

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician or Associates degree in animal science, agriculture or related field.
• One to two years of directly applicable experience in a clinical setting
• Knowledge of the veterinary profession, animal health, animal pharmaceuticals and how these elements work together.
• Knowledge of medical/veterinary terminology, disease conditions/health problems required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Major Duties:
Incumbents of this position perform a variety of clerical duties that directly support an Area’s animal disease eradication and health monitoring programs. Duties involve the review and preparation of documents, processing and accumulation of data,
report preparation, record-keeping, typing of correspondence and documents, and related program support functions.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Receives, sorts, examines, completes, matches, and traces a variety of documents relating to market livestock testing, slaughter plant testing, herd testing, brucellosis reactor testing, and other disease surveillance programs.
* Prepares or reviews test charts on suspects and reactors identified at markets, slaughter establishments, or other premises.
* Processes, audits, and certifies indemnity claims for payment.
* Maintains official listing of stockyards approved to operate in the Area and types correspondence pertaining to approval and removal of stockyards from the Federal Register.
* Responsible for compilation of data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports concerning disease eradication activities.
* Receives monthly data from field veterinarians and enters it into the National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) data base.
* Verifies consistency of movement certificates with current directives.
* Files material and assists in the maintenance of program record files.
