Senior Animal Care Technician Job at University of Miami

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years laboratory animal science experience or equivalent is required. The Senior Animal Care Technician is responsible for maintaining related records as defined by husbandry SOPs. This individual is responsible for training and monitoring fellow technicians in appropriate animal husbandry procedures and for providing assistance in training technical staff, students, and investigators the proper handling of research animals, as well as ensuring that the animal facilities are adequately stocked, and that any facility/physical plant issues are promptly identified, reported, and addressed.

Must be able to function well in a team environment. Participation in the department’s hurricane emergency response team will be required. Some weekend/holiday/evening coverage may be required. AALAS certification at the ALAT level is required within 18 months of employment. Previous experience in the handling of multiple animal species, including NHPs and VAF rodents is required. High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years laboratory animal science experience or equivalent is required. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull at least 50 pounds without assistance. Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills and computer literacy are required. Apply Online
