This position works with biological and pharmaceutical projects with global impact for Merial business. To obtain by appropriate clinical investigations scientific data that contributes to the global pool of developmental research data for registration of the Companys animal health products in regional and global markets. The incumbent works independently in the conduct of clinical and safety investigations in accordance with GCP, GLP, Merial procedures to meet the stringent requirements of regulatory authorities such as FDA, USDA, EPA among others. Responsible for the proper allocation and review of grants for the conduct of studies outside Merial. Maintains close contact with universities, private research institutions, government laboratories, and associations on relevant scientific matters so as to be aware and report on competitor activity and to identify new development and market support opportunities and potential trial cooperators.
Safety Objectives: Insure that the technical R&D technical team follows HSE procedures as defined in applicable SOPs during the conduct of studies and clinical activities; Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies are strictly followed, and act proactively on improving safety at the work place.
The incumbent should have a DVM. A Ph.D. or MS degree in a veterinary field is highly desirable. The incumbent should be able to work as a member of a team and be able to work efficiently under pressure. Evidence of superior writing skills based on previous scientific publications is essential for this position. Previous research experience is essential for this position. Five to ten years research experience in animal health is required.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for the technical mentoring and support of technical personnel; Designs and implements protocols to determine the safety and efficacy of Biological and Pharmaceutical products; Supports the Director of Clinical R&D Bilogics to meet the divisional objectives; As required, assumes the responsibility of the Director of Clinical R&D Biologics; Responsible for the implementation, conduct, monitoring and reporting of investigations conducted inside or outside Merial; Responsible for the negotiation of grants with contract facilities and research institutions; Maintains contact with universities, private research institutions, government laboratories, producers and producers associates on relevant scientific matters.
