Veterinary Service Manager, Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies

Ethicon Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Manager of Veterinary Services, located in Somerville, NJ. The Manager of Veterinary Services provides veterinary technician training, and leadership for the preclinical Veterinary Services Section; Works with management and all preclinical staff to ensure the implementation of laboratory research in a manner that meets and/or exceeds current standards of care; Acts as the primary preclinical department liaison with senior management and regulatory agencies on AWA and IACUC compliance issues; Develops and maintains quality oversight practices designed to ensure the highest level of attention to animal welfare, including the establishment of investigator and AALAS training programs.

Provides technical leadership in the design and implementation of in Preclinical studies in compliance with FDA Good Laboratory Practices, USDA, and AAALAC guidelines and other relevant guidelines and regulations; Leads Veterinary Services staff in the development and implementation of the new methods to deliver the laboratory in vivo model needed to generate data to ensure the safety and efficacy of Ethicon devices.

Ethicon, Inc.- Develops and markets products within three divisions: Ethicon Products Worldwide for wound closure and tissue repair; Johnson & Johnson Wound Management with biosurgical technologies to manage intra-operative bleeding and postoperative leaking, as well as advanced wound care products; and Ethicon Women’s Health & Urology with minimally invasive gynecological and urological solutions in stress urinary incontinence, pelvic floor repair and uterine disorders.

A minimum of a DVM/VMD from an AVMA accredited institution is required. A minimum of five years of veterinary clinical experience and experience in providing primary laboratory in vivo coaching/mentoring veterinary technical staff is required. The experience of working effectively in a team driven environment and excellent interpersonal skills are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience in compliance issue resolution.

A working knowledge of all relevant regulations, interpretive literature and current USDA inspectional trends is preferred. Post-graduate training and/or experience with in vivo research and medicine is a plus. One to two years of management experience in a Research & Development or Contract Laboratory Organization and experience in the conduct of in-vivo Preclinical studies is preferred. Apply
