Reporting to the AVP HR North America, the HR Manager provides strategic, tactical and operational HR support to the Research and Quality groups within our Fort Dodge, Iowa facilities. He/She supports and enables the business strategies by providing expertise on all HR and organizational aspects of the business. He/She provides management with direction on all human resources activities including Compensation & Data Management, Performance Management, Policy Development and Implementation, Employee Relations, Talent Management, Retention Strategies, Staffing, Training, Organizational Development and Labor Relations, as appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Partners with affiliate leaders to ensure that HR goals and priorities are aligned with business needs.
• Participates in the decision-making process as it relates to people and organizational development.
• Develops and implements solutions to people related challenges based upon HR expertise and in-depth understanding of the business.
• Recommends and implements HR policies and procedures to facilitate organizational growth, and to further improve organizational capability.
• Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective leader on people related issues.
• Provides HR consultation and guidance to employees throughout the organization and, where necessary, facilitates the development of individual development plans with line managers.
• Identifies macro organizational needs and partners with functional department heads to ensure alignment of HR priorities with business strategies, facilitates change and continuous improvement.
• Ensures that communication between HR and affiliate’s groups is timely and complete.
• Guides and supports developmental activities for management as well as subordinate staff through ongoing coaching/feedback, and execution of the performance management system
• Develops, and implements HR policies and programs to further promote and maintain a professional work environment.
• Counsels managers on the appropriate handling of performance issues and assists with performance improvement activities.
• Facilitates employee conflict resolution, disciplinary and grievance processes, as appropriate.
• Works and consults with appropriate legal personnel in the resolution of complex employee/labor relation’s issues
• Partners with senior management works to promote an environment where learning and development is embraced as a priority.
• Partners with management personnel to evaluate and design organizational development strategies to drive high performance/operational transformations that will complement the needs of the organization and facilitate the achievement of business objectives.
• Participates in developing and implementing training programs to further improve leadership and organizational capability. In conjunction with senior management and relevant line managements, develops and supports succession planning initiatives. Develops retention strategies for top performers consistent with Wyeth’s talent management guidelines with appropriate line managers.
• Partner with Staffing Department to manage employment activities for the site to include meetings with hiring managers to discuss general staffing activities, job requirements, salary ranges, salary grades, relocation benefits, job posting , and related activities.
• In conjunction with the Staffing Department, work with local management to develop sources of qualified applicants, conduct interview, evaluates applicants’ qualifications. Acts as the point of contact in arranging for preliminary indoctrination and training for newly hired employees and acts as the contact with temporary agencies.
• Responsible for the preparation and submission of the Company’s Affirmative Action Plan (AAP), and for ensuring compliance with applicable government staffing laws and regulations at the federal, and state level.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related discipline
• Minimum seven years experience as human resources professional in an organization with a strong HR tradition.
