Human Resource – Hospital Manage, Central Veterinary Associates, Valley Stream, NY

Hospital Administrator Wanted: Growing veterinary hospital located in an affluent urban/suburban community on Long Island seeks an experienced manager. This well-established hospital is part of a six-practice group which prides itself on its commitment to providing exceptional customer service and patient care.

This position is based in the central hospital which supports the other 5 locations in a classic “hub and spokes” model. However, the Hospital Administrator will support and oversee operations at all locations. Therefore, multiple location experience is desirable, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines will be critical if the hospital is to achieve its maximum performance potential. The Hospital Administrator must be able to set performance and productivity goals, identify gaps in achieving those goals and be able to develop and execute action plans to close those gaps. A proficiency in Microsoft Word®, Excel® and Power Point® are required, as well as a general proficiency in office technology and automation. The successful candidate will be supported by strong doctor/owners, a bookkeeper, and an experienced group of middle managers.

The successful candidate should have a strong history of management in a healthcare, service, or retail environment. Prior veterinary experience is a plus, but not required. Primary skill sets required include the ability to perform all human resource management functions necessary to lead a staff of approximately 100 team members. This includes establishing standards for staff recruiting, selection, scheduling, training program development, performance management, compensation, coaching, counseling and discharge. The successful candidate should have the interpersonal skills required to resolve employee performance, discipline and grievance concerns in a fair and consistent manner, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with team members with a broad range of education and experience. General business skills, such as interpreting profit and loss, inventory management, budgeting and regulatory compliance are also required. The Hospital Administrator will serve as a role model for team members by developing and delivering high standards of customer service and maintaining positive public relations within the local communities.
